Professional Consultation & Training
Supporting the people and organizations that support others.
The Healing Place offers professional consultation, training, and educational services for schools, child-serving organizations, human service agencies, community organizations, and helping professionals. Services combine a clinical social work perspective with a background in leadership and human resource development to provide practical, evidence-informed education and support tailored to the needs of each organization.
Consultation and training can be customized based on your setting, population, and goals.
🏫 Schools & Child-Serving Organizations
Children's behavior often communicates more than what is visible on the surface. Consultation can help professionals better understand behavior within the context of development, relationships, emotional regulation, trauma, and the environments in which children live and learn.
Potential areas of consultation and training include:
Understanding challenging behavior
Emotional dysregulation and co-regulation
Trauma-informed approaches
Responding to big emotions and behavioral concerns
Connection, communication, and relationship building
Supporting children with ADHD and impulsivity
Developmentally appropriate expectations
Parent and caregiver engagement
Supporting staff who work with high-needs populations
Services may include individual consultation, team consultation, staff education, workshops, and customized trainings.
🌿 Organizations & Helping Professionals
Professionals working in mental health, human services, education, and other helping fields face unique interpersonal and organizational challenges. Consultation and training can support teams in strengthening communication, understanding human behavior, improving supportive practices, and creating healthier environments for both professionals and the people they serve.
Potential topics may include trauma-informed practices, professional boundaries, communication, burnout and sustainable helping, staff wellness, team functioning, and other topics developed around organizational needs.
🎓 Early-Career Therapist Consultation
Beginning a career as a therapist can involve a lot of questions that graduate school does not always prepare you to navigate. Individual consultation is available for new and developing therapists who want help organizing their professional goals and understanding possible next steps.
Consultation may include:
Career planning and professional goal setting
Understanding licensure pathways and where to find authoritative requirements
Identifying training and continuing education priorities
Exploring clinical interests and developing a professional niche
Thinking through career and employment options
Exploring future private-practice pathways
Organizing a longer-term professional development plan
The goal is not to tell you exactly what your career should look like, but to help you understand your options, identify reliable resources, and develop a realistic roadmap toward where you want to go.
